Serbian born artist Nikola Savic creates vibrant and immersive paintings on canvas and stainless steel. Seducing the viewer with his vivid colour palette, the artist plays with geometric shapes to create vortexes, and enigmatic forms that seem to dance over the surface.
By utilising stainless steel, Savic encourages the viewer to step inside his world, by literally seeing their reflection in the work. These works are highly polished and finished, hinting at a futuristic or stylised version of reality. The artist plays with the language of abstraction but with his own signature style, incorporating objects that appear to be reconstructed mechanical forms. The biomorphic objects in his paintings have almost an anaglyph effect, altering the viewer’s sense of space and perspective. The artist engages the viewer with equally ambiguous yet familiar images, a kaleidoscope of colours that the audience is drawn into and encouraged to explore.
Savic’s paintings are in several significant collections including American Embassy Belgrade, Bank of America, Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic and many private collections worldwide.
