Black Is The New Black highlights the achievements and impact of exceptional Black britons on British culture today.  Artist and director Simon Frederick has created a stunning portfolio of portaits, celebrating figures from politics, music, fashion, science, religion and business; pioneering a new perspective on modern Britain.  The portraits were taken during the production of the seminal two-part documentary, 'Black Is The New Black', aired on BBC 2, where the sitters shared their insights and experience of being black and British.

Mehta Bell Projects were delighted to consult on this project, working closely with the artist and documentary production team.  Mehta Bell also assisted in the acquisition of Simon Frederick's portraits by the National Portrait Gallery - the largest acquisition of portraits of Afro-Caribbean sitters into the National Portrait Gallery's collection.
